The Lion King

This painting is inspired from the fact that a Lion protects his Lioness from behind. He is always there for her when needed. One can relate this with their lives also- someone is always there! A Lion is lurking in the shadow when he senses danger and strikes at the right time. It is an unusual subject but I went ahead with it as this concept got to me- just could not let go. The next challenge was to focus on the subject only, hence the dark background. Eyes speak a lot, be it human or animals- which was the challenge next in line. I have successfully shown a fierce Lion and the Lioness feeling secure (calm, yet confident eyes). The colors are not bright but will catch one’s attention without any doubt!
