Buddha with his discipline

Buddha with monks Medium: oil pastels, pastel pencils Buddha!! He epitomises tranquillity, serenity, calmness and peace. All these virtues are needed by us more today than any other time. May we all get inspiration from him and make our lives better and happier. I got to know the true essence of Buddha when I visited Sri lanka. The country is soaked in the spirit of Buddhism and is adorned with innumerable sculptures and temples of the lord. It was a very divine experience to visit some of the great temples and places dedicated to him. The painting has been made with two contrasting backgrounds. Buddha attained nirvana under the famous Bodhi tree in Gaya so it was apt to include these leaves in the backdrop. Buddha has been painted on the white background whereas the Bodhi tree leaves and the monks have been painted on a black background. (if desired the painting can be bought as only the Buddha picture also without the leaves and monks as those are on separate background)
